Witcher 3"s Blood and Wine DLC is one of the biggest, most ambitious DLC packs in recent memory, featuring a whole new region to explore. We"ll show you how to get to the new Kingdom of Toussaint, as well as what level you"ll need to be to manage once you"re there.

How to Play Blood and Wine
The vast majority of Blood and Wine takes place in Toussaint, a new area added that"s strongly reminiscent of medieval Southern France. In order to get there, you"ll have to complete a quest in Velen entitled "Envoys, Wineboys", which will then get you access to Toussaint and the rest of the DLC. Once you complete this quest, you"ll be able to go to Toussaint as much as you like, whenever you like.
What Are the Level Requirements for Blood and Wine?
While you technically don"t have to be a certain level to play this DLC, it"s pretty clear that the developers created it to be late game/endgame content, for those who had already completed most of Witcher 3"s content and were looking for something else to do. The game suggests that you don"t attempt the Envoys, Wineboys quest until you"re level 34, and we wouldn"t disagree, as all the enemies in Blood and Wine will be this powerful or even more so. Inexperienced Witchers are likely to get killed over and over if they try this high-level mission, a demoralizing experience to say the least.
Where to Get the "Envoys, Wineboys" Quest
The quest to take you to Toussaint is found on any bounty board in Velen, accessed by selecting a letter named: "Appeal to Sir Geralt of Rivia, the Bridge his Crest". It"s a letter to Geralt from some Knights of Toussaint, asking for his help. If you think you"re ready for this high-level quest, head to the town of Holloway to meet them. There"ll be some fights before they take you to the new region, but it won"t be long before you"re walking through the dappled vineyards of Toussaint, encountering strange new characters and monsters aplenty.
But despite being beautiful, this new world is not without its dangers. If you want to be well-prepared for the perils ahead, why not take a look at our guide on adrenaline in combat?
